Here the authors describe a cost-effective, non-toxic method for genotyping transgenic animals by using the reagent AquaStool to extract fecal DNA and remove PCR inhibitors.

Seven tested stabilizing solutions (OMNIgene( ) GUT, RNAlater( ), AquaStool , RNAssist, PerkinElmer SEB lysis buffer, and DNA Genotek's CP-150) were all compatible with the chemagic MSM I and showed no significant difference in microbiome alpha diversity.
